Eating good quality gluten free food, mainly in Edinburgh

Gluten Free Dinner

I make no secret on my site of my love of good dining and the fact that five star restaurants seem to get the gluten free element right. Here are my favourites so far, and click through for the reviews I did previously.

I had a great Christmas lunch at Gusto on George Street. The standard of gluten free was good and it was my first taste of gluten free pasta too. I will definitely go back!  They offer gluten free pasta and pizzas, as do many Italians, plus the food is of good quality and the atmosphere is lively.

G&V Hotel

Set on the Royal Mile and right in the middle of town, this five star hotel has a few restaurants and bars within it and a good attitude to gluten free. I just loved it.  There is a fine dining seafood restaurant called Ondine within the hotel, which I have not reviewed.  However, my meal at Cucina was exceptional.

Angels with Bagpipes

My new favourite place, Angels with Bagpipes is just lovely!  Great atmosphere, knowledgeable service, superb choices and the most delicious food.  This should be on every visitor to Edinburgh’s wishlist.

My other new favourite place is the Roamin’ Nose on Eyre Place. Definitely worth a detour to try it out …  While it is slightly out of the city centre, the Roamin’ Nose is in the New Town and might be close to B&Bs and hotels, if you are staying here.  I have eaten there a few times now and while I find the menu a little bit confusing, as it is a series of typed up sheets of paper, whatever I have chosen has been very good.  The decor is worth seeing – 70s retro!
