The Edinburgh Farmers’ Market is a great way to pick up local and seasonal food on a Saturday morning. On the top of Castle Terrace Car Park, the Farmers’ market has different stalls each time. I have already raved about the superb Agnes Bakes Cakes which comes sometimes, as well as the Arepas from Brazil.
This week I came across Saucy Desserts. This family business is producing extremely high quality puddings and is building on its stockists while expanding its range. There is one, pretty gobsmacking gluten free option, the sticky toffee pudding. What’s the point in cooking with such deliciousness available?!
The nicely packaged box contains a tray of gluten free sponge and a pot of sauce. Combine, microwave and then enjoy.
Two of my family gluten eaters devoured a portion for two between three of us and declared it the best sticky toffee pudding ever (clearly forgetting my baking forays of previous evenings….). Though I have to say, this really took the GF biscuit for me. I will be buying more!
The Farmers’ Market, for the time being, is the only Edinburgh-based place to buy them, but let’s hope that changes. The Facebook site has a list of other stockists, which are largely in the Dumfries & Galloway area. But they are definitely worth seeking out!
