Eating good quality gluten free food, mainly in Edinburgh

Rana’s Artisan Breads

When I visited the Free From and Allergy Show in Glasgow recently, I met two terrific people from Rana’s Artisan Breads.  They have developed gluten free bread mixes which are easy to use and having tried the bread, I can tell you it is extremely good.  They kindly gave me a mix for Ingenious Flatbread to try.

The takeaway was booked, so I ran up a couple of flatbreads to enjoy with it. Mixing is quick and easy and you need only leave the bread to prove for 30 minutes in a warm place before you dry fry it in a pan.  The slightly odd technique is that you spread the dough on greaseproof paper and cook it through the paper before peeling off.  However, that did not detract from the easy process and the good result.

I thought the flatbread went well with the curry and the one left over was cut into sticks and used with humous by my family.  It certainly got the thumbs up.  It tells me on the packet that I can also use the mix to make crackers and pizza base – details online.

Finding stockists is not yet that easy as Rana’s is a relatively new product.  However, you can buy online and it might also be worth requesting it in your local wholefood store as then they might stock it, which would help these super nice people.
(this looks like an odd address, but it works)
