Eating good quality gluten free food, mainly in Edinburgh

Just: 4 Good Seeded Rolls

Produced by a Scottish bakery in Motherwell, the Just: products are now stocked in all seven Waitrose stores in Scotland. The rolls2Waitrose Free From sections are not huge, but the products in them are very good, on the whole. As well as the usual brands, Waitrose has a great own brand range and the biscuits and bakery are some of the best I have tried.

The Just: rolls are not just gluten free, but totally allergen free as well. So they are wheat, egg and dairy free. My trepidation about this was unfounded as these rolls are good! In some specifically created gluten free products, there can be a whole host of unidentifiable ingredients, but these are full of good things including poppy seeds, quinoa seeds and linseed. The packaging even explains what the ingredients are.

rolls3The rolls are springy and a good colour, plus really packed with seeds. The bread is light and does not stick to your teeth as many other brands do. I also tried them toasted as a breakfast roll, with butter and marmalade and they improve with toasting. The roll becomes more crusty and the flavour of the seeds comes out. I think these rolls would stand up well to being used in a packed lunch in a school bag or rucksack which again, many other products cannot cope with.

I did notice that the packaging has the BIGGEST ever barcode – almost record breaking in its size!

There are Waitrose stores in Helensburgh, Milngavie, Newton Mearns, Glasgow, Stirling, plus two in Edinburgh. These great rolls are also available in some wholefood stores and direct from the manufacturer:
