We had a great surprise at the weekend, when walking in the Pentland Hills. The old visitor centre at Flotterstone is now a cafe and takeaway! Even more of a surprise was that it sells gluten free cakes, some amazing little truffles, baked potatoes and also GF sandwiches.
The service is super-friendly and we enjoyed some delicious gluten free (possibly also vegan) truffles and fudge – a great treat at the end of a hillwalk. My gluten-eating husband had a huge cheese scone, but I wouldn’t have been left out if I had wanted a sandwich made with GF bread, brownie or a large slice of carrot cake.
I did spot that the GF cakes were beneath the non-GF in the chill counter, so it would be great if they switched them round to avoid contamination, but other than that, this is a nice spot to stop for a coffee and cake or quick lunch.
Isn’t great when you spot these places?
