North Berwick is a great little town near to Edinburgh, packed full of shops, cafes and restaurants. It’s a good place for a day out to walk on the beach and to visit lovely shops and cafes around the town. We found ourselves in North Berwick after a long walk along the coast.
In need of tea and gluten free cake, we called into The Herringbone on Westgate. This nicely decorated and friendly place looks like a great option for Sunday lunch as it was full of families enjoying pretty tasty looking meals.
Our first server wasn’t too clear on the gluten free options, but we pretty quickly met someone who was and who told us that one of the day’s special cakes was GF. Hooray – it was the most delicious cake and despite what sounded like interesting ingredients of beetroot and white chocolate, it was just amazing! The cake was seriously moist, not too sweet and had the loveliest colour icing with little chocolate curls.
All cake tastes good after walking over ten miles, but this cake was simply lovely. Judging by the standard of this, I should say this is a good spot for tea, lunch or dinner and would be worth trying out if you are in North Berwick.
