Eating good quality gluten free food, mainly in Edinburgh

cafe

St Andrews

We enjoyed a birthday lunch in St Andrews today at The Adamson restaurant on South Street.

sta2Well geared up for coeliacs and other food intolerances and allergies, we were presented with a sheet containing an extensive checklist of all foods on the menu.  While the sheet resembled a Higher Maths paper, it was certainly comprehensive and, most importantly, it worked!

A tasty and rather beautiful starter of citrus cured salmon including shaved fennel and grapefruit kicked things off nicely

sta3The mains included a good range of choices.  Tipped off by a previous customer that the steak is a good option, I opted for steak frites – deliciously marinated steak with garlic and chilli, a smooth and tasty bearnaise sauce and some really good chips in a cute little bucket.

The restaurant should offer GF bread, but other than that, the choices are good and the service could not be more helpful.

Highly recommended!
